Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

How many photos will you take on my wedding day?

The number of photos taken at your wedding will vary based on the package you select.  Anywhere from 450 to 1000 pictures will be taken before, during, and after your ceremony.

Are there at least two complete recent wedding albums of photos taken to view, and are they taken by the same photographer who will be taking the photos on my wedding day?

I currently have three wedding albums online to view.  I am the only photographer that shoots weddings or other events.  In the event that another photographer is present, they will be taking additional photographs and it will be discussed before hand.  I will always be at your wedding taking photographs.

Will you capture the distinctive moments that tell the complete story of the wedding day?

Every wedding is different.  From the time that I arrive I am taking photos.  My goal is to capture every moment of your wedding day.  I am, however, only one person and can’t be in every place at once.  I do have an additional photographer that is available to assist me if requested.  I do capture all major events that take place that day.  Also, I discuss what events are the most important before your wedding day to ensure that we agree on what are “must have” photographs.

Are a large percentage of the photos posed? What other options are there?

There are two basic types of photography.  You have “Portrait” photography, which are posed photographs, and you have a “Photojournalist” style of photography which captures events and people as they are “NATURALLY” occurring.  There are advantages and disadvantages to both styles.  Some people prefer portraits to be taken, but enjoy the idea of taking natural photos.  You can see through my online albums that the majority of my photographs are a more photojournalist style.

How much time on my wedding day will I be kept from my guests posing for pictures?

Again, this depends on your personal needs.  I take as much time as is necessary to get the photos that you want.  Some people like the idea of having formal portraits taken after the ceremony.  Other people just want the Primary wedding party and the rest are taken later in a natural setting.  I will discuss your personal needs, and give you a realistic time frame that you can expect to be away from your guests.  I will only keep you as long as I need to.  You are paying for pictures to be taken, so you may as well get what you want.  You only have one day and one time to do it and get it right.  I make that happen for you.

Will ALL my proofs be on the internet so I can share them with my out-of-town guests?

This is one of the best advantages to choosing Our Special Moment for your wedding day.  I place all photos online for 180 days ( about 6 months ) so that anyone who wants to purchase pictures can do so without contacting you.  It is convenient, and there are several options available to them that I do not charge extra for.

Do I have to pay extra for special effects, editing & retouching?

Special effects are extra.  I do not charge extra for photos that you request in B&W.  I do offer Portrait Creations by Chris.  There are Portrait Creation packages that are available to choose from.  Portrait Creations typically start at $5.00 and go up to $25.00 each.

What is the price of reprints? Is there a minimum order on reprints, or a time-limit on their availability?

Reprints can be purchased through the online website that I have set up for you to view your proofs.  Again, they are available for 180 days.  In the event that you need them available longer, I am able to extend the length of time they are available online for a $50 fee.  There is no minimum on the number of reprints that you purchase.  There are discounts available to the bride and groom for large orders that need to be placed.  I must be contacted before the order is placed to provide the discount.

What I am really getting and what will everything cost? Is it in writing?

I have a basic agreement that I require both parties to sign.  The agreement lists all details that are discussed.  It will list everything from services provided, to products selected, to payment arrangements, to the date of the event, etc.

Are the originals going to be stamped 'proof ' across the front?

All online proofs are stamped with a watermark.  If a “proof book” is requested, the word “proof” is not stamped across the picture.  The proof book is yours to keep.  There is a small fee for proof books to be provided.  All final products selected for you package will not have a watermark stamped across the picture.

What is extra and how do the company policies work?  Will there be surprises later?

Everything is listed in the contract.  In the event that additional services or products are necessary, a new agreement will be signed by both parties.  There are no surprises or hidden costs that are not discussed up front and placed in writing.

Do I get a CD or DVD of my photographs?

Depending on the package that you purchase, CD’s and DVD’s are available.  All packages include a DVD of 25 images with one song of choice that depicts the highlights of the wedding day.

Are you flexible enough to take care of me and my needs?

I will do everything that I can to take care of you and your needs.  Unlike most photographers, I do not restrict you or use policies to find ways to charge you more money.  There are some circumstances that require additional costs, but again they are clearly mentioned in the agreement.  I try to make your wedding day about YOU.  I am only there to capture important moments that you want to cherish for a lifetime…..and at an affordable cost.

How long does it take to get your prints back.

Prints are normally available to view online 14 days after your wedding.  Once you have selected the pictures for your package, you will receive your pictures within 15 – 21 days.  The only exception is the Wedding Album that is chosen with the package.  You will receive it within 30 to 45 days after the day you place your order.

What type of equipment do you use and Do you have backup equipment.

I am a digital photographer.  I use a 10.1 Megapixel DSLR camera.  I will have backup equipment at the wedding.  I will have an additional camera, backup lenses, batteries, and memory cards.

Do you visit the site of the ceremony and reception?

Typically I visit the site of the ceremony and the reception.  I will visit the site around the same time that the wedding and reception will take place.  It helps to give me an idea where to shoot from, what angles I will be able to shoot, and it will also allow me to have an idea about the easiest way to navigate around more efficiently.  With out-of-town weddings I will visit the site the day of the event.  I will arrive about 5 hours before the ceremony is due to start so that I will have an opportunity to look around.  I may also request pictures to assist me with some of the details.

What is your cancellation policy?

My cancellation policy is stated on the agreement that we would sign.  You have the right to cancel the policy at any time.  As long as you cancel 8 weeks before the date of your wedding, you get your money back. ( less the $250 deposit ).  In the event that you cancel less than 60 days from your wedding, there will be an additional $250 fee.  I do this because I loose any opportunity to book another wedding on that date if you cancel within 60 days.

How much do you charge for reprints?

When you make your selection of the pictures you want for your package, I will encourage you to order additional prints at that time.  Reprints  will cost considerably less when ordered with you package than the reprints cost online.  To see a detailed list of reprint costs, click here.
